Abduction is a challenging subject to tackle with children. Parents don’t want to frighten kids unnecessarily but they do want to make sure their children are aware of dangers in the world and strategies to stay safe.

According to the FBI, police received more than 400,000 reports of missing children last year in the United States. That is why Honeywell Hometown Solutions and its long-time partner the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children are introducing the new KidSmartz program. This program is the next generation of the Got2BSafe! program, which Honeywell and its employees have supported for more than a decade.

KidSmartz is a comprehensive, school-based program that parents and teachers can use to educate children about how to stay safe and minimize the risk of abduction. Unlike the Got2BSafe! program, which focused exclusively on third graders, KidSmartz is an expanded program to engage kids in grades K-5.

KidSmartz uses entertaining, informative and memorable free online lesson plans, tips, printable activities, quizzes, articles and animated videos to teach the “Four Rules of Personal Safety”:

  • Check first
  • Take a friend
  • Say no and find help
  • Tell a trusted adult.
